Then start with establishing the habit of getting prepared the night before or some other point that makes sense for you. I go to the gym for years now but I also started once. Talking takes up time that could be used lifting. If you're serious about achieving your goals, you'll be in the gym 2-7 times a week, possibly for hours at a time. I'd need to settle down at home first, eat dinner, wait an hour or two, then head to the gym. Usually stay until 1. There is nobody there, except your family, to interact with. Instead of going from being in a 800 calorie surplus to suddenly eating 1 leaf of lettuce a day try just not having that 1 can of coke everyday. If OP's (or someone else's who is asking the same question) sleep schedule is fucked to start with and they don't have a regular gym schedule then going would help more. The benefits for me are that: there's nothing outside the gym to distract me as I have nothing better to do at 2AM; the equipment is mostly empty; and I can zone out, knowing I'm not surrounded by 20 other people. That's if you even want to. Most people that go to the gym don’t do it for any vanity purposes. But be warned you should be very descriptive with how you want someone to help you lift and if you can't find a gym member you can usually go to the desk and ask if a trainer could spot you for a few minutes. You can build a schedule that allows 1-2 days between muscle groups but puts you in the gym every day (still try to take at least one full rest day). I work out at lifetime fitness so I have quite a few amenities thats why I bring a lot. watch some videos on the exercises your doing and practice on form, its better to do low weight with good form then high weight with terrible form. Also, don’t let your ego get in the way. You may feel heavy, sluggish, constant brain fog after a while of going everyday. I've got a ton of energy after dinner or bright and early in the morning. I started going to the gym so I can get at least one man's attention. The gym is just so boring (for me). That said, there's normal sleep-dep levels, and then there's "I'm going to puke and/or cry at any moment" sleep-dep. But I have found tremendous benefits to my ability to focus, mental health, mood, and physical health that far outweigh not having an aesthetic physique (although it would still be nice to have one) Nobody likes to go the gym every time they say they’re going to go to the gym, but the people who push through it and forces themselves to go will have better gains. I was in the camp that you can do low volume everyday and you’ll recover. id recommend getting a buddy to go to the gym with I usually go to bed after getting home from work, having woken up around midnight. When I used to just go to the gym under my own steam, I would really struggle with motivation, especially when it was down to me to pick the workout etc. But 1500 for a man is very low, as others have pointed out too. So I guess what I recommend would depend on whether this is a regular occurrence for OP. But if you’re still going hard day after day it catches up to you. Every other day I have been going for 25-30min brisk walks and doing a short circuit of push-ups from my kitchen bench, tricep dips and 20sec plank. Pretty good day that day. I work Mon-Thur 8-4:30 but I usually end up going to bed around 2 or 3 regardless of when I have to get up. Walk around get body moving more coffee. I need a preworkout to get me going, and then after gym i have a hard time going to sleep, which also is influenced by my sleep habits. The other week I went to the gym around 3:30 and did legs, and then I was back around the gym at 8:30 so I went in and did some pullups/dips and bi curls/tri extensions. Just go into the gym and do some warm ups sub ~50% of your maxes before. It has changed everything about my life, and those changes started early. Even with diet. You wont regret it, trust me. If you're doing a full body weightlifting routine 3 days / week then going 2 more days is likely to reduce your gains and increase you risk of injury, unless you have unusually good genetics.
